Gee people. Rick Gates and Manafort have been business associates for years. Why would Gates have to ring an attorney in London, have a strange conversation in Russian, to reach someone he already knew in the US who spoke English.

I again stand by my claim #PersonA is Firtash.

He is Ukrainian, pro-Putin, a billionaire and experienced with rigging elections. The perfect type of person to call during the US presidential run.
That is, if collusion is your intention.

or,

Perhaps Gates needed to contact Firtash to exchange borscht recipes.
And why cloak Manafort already under long list of crimes
You only cloak those you are drawing a bead on

You are the one saying that the 80 years in prison Manafort is subject to is a nothing burger. I know your boy thinks it was a 400 pound shut-in behind the meddling but that theory is out the window.

Manafort worked at Bayrock with Felix Sater in real estate development. They had ties to the Trump organization, and also to a lot of Russians with money. When real estate changes hands above the market price in order to make a "donation" to the owner when it would be illegal/immoral/fattening to do so in the open, it is called "money laundering".

Manafort bought a condo in Trump Tower, and his purchase happened to coincide with an influx of shady Russian money. Later Manafort became Trump's campaign manager, but took no salary, a highly unusual action for a man totally obsessed with money. Coincidence?

This may help explain it.

Well, you can also credit Trump for that as well. That is his whole end game with the FBI, to beat up on them everyday in the press to discredit them. So, when they do find wrong doing, people like you will question it. For some people that's going to absolute work, and for a lot of other people that's not going to work.

Gates is singing, but not the song you want to hear.

He's singing the already well-known 'Paul & I Illegally Lobbied for the Ukraine,' not the still unheard, 'Trump, Vlad, & I Conspired to Win the 2016 Election.'

Mueller will indict more people, including some D lobbyists, on the Ukraine stuff. Still, no Trump or his campaign for collusion.

Collusion had not been proven yet but Gates and Manafort were part of the Trump campaign. Let's not forget that. It was right after Manafort joined the the Trump campaign did a 180 on its Crimea position. So perhaps Trump's politics were influenced by a foreign agent.

The March, 2018 issue of "The Atlantic", now available online, has an excellent and very detailed article about Manafort's involvement with first, Republican politics and eventually funding and consorting with some very dubious international characters.

Speaking of character, the man has none.

The various references to Ukraine in this thread may be confusing for those who didn't follow Ukrainian happenings over the last five or ten years very closely. It's just "Ukraine", btw - "The Ukraine" is a pro-Russian useage, that originated before Ukraine's independence from the Russian Federation, when it was a region, not an independent country.

Just before Ukraine's "Maidan Revolution" of the winter of 2013-2014, Ukraine's president, Yanukovich, was a pro-Russian puppet, quite corrupt, and oil and gas interests played a large part in his wealth. During this time, former president and political rival Julia Tymoshenko was imprisoned by Yanukovich, on false charges.

Manafort was heavily involved with Yanukovich and the oil-funded Russian-Ukrainian oligarchs who supported him and profited by his presidency. Those oil oligarchs included German Khan, the Kyiv-born (prior to Ukraine's independence) father-in-law of Alex Van Der Zwaan ("German" is pronounced "Gairmahn" or "Hairmahn" or "Airmahn" in Russian, btw - it could also be spelled "Herman", which would make the full name a little less weird to Western eyes. In that regard, it's sort of like the female Russian name "Ghalina", which can also be "Halina" or "Alina").

So - the Ukrainian populace courageously rebelled against the corrupt, Putin-puppet Yanukovich, who eventually cravenly fled to Russia for succor, Tymoshenko, in poor health by this time, was released from prison, elections were held, and democracy returned, with some corruption yet to be eradicated, but well on its way.

Then Russia invaded eastern Ukraine and slipped into Crimea, with its little green men, who denied their Russian military background and purpose. Eventually, Crimea was invaded and occupied by Russia, as was some of eastern Ukraine.

In addition to thousands of resulting military casualties, thousands of Ukrainian civilians were killed by Russia, and more suffered injury, illness, deprivation, starvation, cold, hunger, and deprivation. Much of the infrastructure of occupied eastern Ukraine was destroyed - roads, bridges, railroads, etc. Warfare - a war of attrition - continues in this area. Mock elections (with transparent ballot boxes!) were held in Crimea. Crimean schoolchildren can no longer study the Ukrainian language in public schools. Textbooks were rewritten or replaced by Russian textbooks.

But Ukraine survives, though injured, and most of this beautiful country, the largest country in Europe and one of the most richly blessed with natural resources, is free and democractic once more.

No thanks to Khan, Manafort, Putin, and their evil ilk.

To think that Trump's campaign was supported and funded by those who were involved in this evil is horrifying. To see him refuse to impose mandated sanctions on Russia must raise questions in the minds of all who are familiar with what happened in Ukraine, and by the increasing revelations of just how far Putin's power and his tentacles extend.

Right into the Oval Office...

The legal term that has Trump and associates worried is conspiracy. Oh, and obstruction of justice.
