Since this is the only Country that is the way it is and so many that are how you want this one to be the answer is simple and obvious...we keep our one country and you go to one of the others that are already messed up the way you want.
How about you get out of my country then and form your own. Ever think about it like that?
I'm going to work for and vote for change with more restrictions and more gun control in this nation. If you don't like that, then you can get out
The argument of the gun banners is that we need to ban "assault weapons" (and some are arguing for going even further) because of shootings like Parkland.
The debate often goes into arguing about the 2nd Amendment and gun ownership. However, that is actually going more into the box the elites want us to debate in. While I do not think I can leave the 2nd Amendment totally out of the argument, I can think I mention it briefly enough and then walk outside the box that the elites have hoped we'll keep the debate in.
Their argument is that access to "assault weapons", or even guns in general, are to blame for these shootings and that if they were banned, they would stop. However, considering that gun ownership was guaranteed with the 2nd Amendment and "assault weapons", in one form or another, have been around for about 200 years without seeing incidents like these shootings, one must ask, if access to the weapons has always been there, why are the shooting increasing since Columbine in 1998? Based on those facts, one can reasonably conclude that access to guns, even assault weapons, have an inconsequential bearing on the rise of, increasing deathtoll of, and increasing frequency of, these mass shootings.
Another topic that was brought up was mental health. That actually is a more valid topic, as there is a noticeable shift with the changes in laws and court rulings concerning that and the increase in mass shootings. That is an area we could discuss. However, I want to mention that having national "mental health" laws to restrict gun ownership (among other things, like possibly having someone committed for instance) shouldn't be allowed, as it would be too easy for someone to use inaccurate information to disarm innocent people (like taking guns from someone who was severely depressed for a few months of their lives from ever owning guns again) to outright political censorship (i.e. declaring someone "mentally unfit" for not believing in "climate change", that marriage can be between the same gender, not believing that gender can be changed, etc) that would disarm people who committed "thought crimes" against the regime in power in DC.) Thus, I would keep the jurisdiction of mental health laws to the state and local level.) (Preferably local, as I don't trust some states (Yes, I'm talking to YOU California and New York!))
Also, in regards to mental health, we shouldn't just stop with what to laws to make with those who are mentally ill, but also try and figure out WHY people are mentally ill (i.e. Big Pharma, GMOs, too much technology, abusive relationships/bullying, etc.) We could also discuss access to decent healthcare as possibly being a factor in likelihood for mental illness.
And we can discuss other issues, such as the lack of respect for life, which has spanned from blaming video games to blaming Hollywood to blaming (rightfully so) abortion industries like Planned Parenthood as well as the rise of euthanasia and "right to die" laws.
By discussing these issues, we can get closer to addressing the real problems instead of staying in the gun box that the elites want us to so that they can move to try and take away more of our liberties by dragging on the discussion about guns till enough people believe the propaganda and give up their inalienable rights.
Good point. All of these shootings happen in Gun Free Zones. They are soft targets. TOO soft. That needs to change. When did criminals pay attention to them, or an other gun law?

It's our country, all of us. You gun nuts need to realize that. I love this country. I'm not going anywhere just because you want to play with your toys.
Would it be better to bring back machine guns so that the intent of the 2nd amendment would be fully realized?
Of course not. No one thinks that.
Mass shootings would be made worse if psychos were given access to Tommy guns. They will be lessened by the absence of assault rifles.
Finding all the psychos in a group of 315 million people is not possible.
It amazes me that intelligent people believe that disarming themselves will stop predators from preying on them. Guns aren't the problem. Predators are.

Absolutely true the gun can't do anything by itself, it requires a person to pull the trigger.
You are going to need a gun to do that.
You are a threat to me, my family and my property.
Ha. I think you're funny. You actually think that your fellow citizen is the enemy for voting for candidates and policies that you don't agree with.
Jesus Christ. Maybe your mindset is the issue. See, as someone who is pro gun-restriction, I don't see those with guns as the "enemy" or a "threat". I see them as a frickin human being who has a different opinion than I do.
Maybe it's time to get past that and stop looking at America as a "for or against us" deal and realize that there's compromises to be made that can actually unite us and be for the greater good.
