Enterprise Holdings, which operates Enterprise, Alamo, and National, had a partnership with the NRA to provide discounts to members. The discounts are available to NRA members once they pay their $40 annual fee — and were among the 22 corporations offering discounts and “five star savings” to the gun lobby’s members. On Thursday, however, all three brands announced that they would be ending the program within the next month.
.....
The announcement follows close on the heels of First National Bank of Omaha’s decision to end its relationship with the NRA. For more than a decade the bank has offered NRA members specially branded Visa cards, but in a tweet the bank said that “customer feedback has caused us to review our relationship with the NRA.” The bank did not respond to multiple inquiries by ThinkProgress asking for a more detailed explanation of its decision.
As a fellow gun-owner, I believe you are misunderstanding my posts. Or perhaps I am misunderstanding yours. You also seem to misunderstand the purpose of the 2nd amendment and it's importance in it's role as "securer" of rights? Something the 1st amendment ultimately does not have the power to do.
While all rights are, of course, vital and none should be tread upon, I do object to the notion that "no one right carries more weight than another".
If this point is still not clear, all it takes is a look down throughout history of the people who have had to deal with oppressive and ultimately murderous regimes after their arms were taken from them.
Exactly. Gun grabbing regimes have murdered 100+ million of their own people just during the 20th century, alone.
Are we going to ban cars too? I heard that we have a higher chance of dying in a car accident than dying from a gun.
Umm, no. But we DO require them to be registered, licensed and insured. And the operators have to display a basic level of knowledge of how to operate them and obtain an operator's license before driving them.

So is "dumping the NRA" (from linked piece) equivalent to denying they are owned by the NRA?
A tip o' the hat to them.
Now if only our elected representatives will do the same.

Kind of makes sense for other things too, no?
Now all you have to do is rationally persuade some of US that human lives are more sacred than property.
No. NRA argues the militia means every citizen. Even if "well regulated" meant "well functioning", it still boils down to need of tight control, and good training. That is the only way to have well functioning militia. Simply giving everyone a gun does NOT make a well regulated militia, no matter how you interpret the "well regulated" part. Otherwise the words "well regulated" means absolutely nothing, and could be removed.
It would end up looking like PA Constitution: "The right of the citizens to bear arms in defense of themselves and the State shall not be questioned.”
However, the US Constitution put those words in there for a reason.
More gun laws of which we already have 22,000 on the books make us LESS FREE. So yes, the NRA is correct.
