Several school districts in Ohio have armed staff and teachers in an effort to prevent school shootings, but some of those districts have not told parents, students and taxpayers about the firearms in their buildings, the Dayton Daily News recently reported.
Well this seems like a massive fail. Aren't we told that broadcasting the teachers are armed means that the shootings own't happen...if you don't tell the parents, that means the mass shooters don't know either.

And? Teachers have every reason to want to protect themselves. As a side benefit they offer protection to their students in the unlikely event an armed criminal were to enter their school. Not sure why that would even be news.
ETA, oh, yeah, I see your point. Far better as a deterrent for a potential shooter to know he may encounter armed staff.
If my kids' school district starts arming teachers at their schools, they need to tell the parents. I want to know. Not which teachers necessarily, just that there are guns at their school and not strapped onto the SROs belts.
