Recently there was a show on TV about a Muslim woman who killed her husband and blamed the killing on a car jacking. In this show called "snapped" they mentioned that CA has many car jackings. (Btw, the woman is convicted of planning/plotting to kill her husband)
Florida hardly has any car jackings.
The difference between CA and Florida is that Florida has sealed gun laws and stand your ground laws. Criminals are aware that the driver of a car can have a gun! In California, criminals know that drivers are NOT allowed to have a gun.
Which State will criminals prefer for a car jacking?

A TV Show said California has many car highjackings.
You say Florida has hardly any.
I have not come across any credible information about the absolute number of and rates of jackings, anywhere. How such crimes are tracked and reported varies county to county throughout the US.
Given California has twice the population of Florida , it likely it has more good, bad and ugly of everything.

Per your statement that means that anyone using any European country or Japan as an example for less gun violence is bogus as the US is bigger. Thanks for your post and admitting to that

How many carjackings are we talking about in CA? Last year there were about a thousand in Chicago alone.
Carjackings skyrocket in Chicago in 2017

You know what I have seen (well read) often in Florida? Road rage shootouts. One person cuts off another. They both stop there cars. Start jawing and then open fire.
That's my anecdotal contribution.

I don't know about car jackings, but straight up car thefts in CA seem to be a huge problem, 6 of the top 10 cities in the country for car thefts are in CA.

Many of the thefts involve the car's owner leaving keys in the ignition and the engine running. Police say it's a "crime of opportunity."

California does not prohibit carrying an unloaded rifle or shotgun in a motor vehicle.
Concealed handguns: California prohibits a person from carrying a concealed handgun in a motor vehicle, unless the handgun is in a locked container or the vehicle’s trunk,1 or the person has been issued a concealed weapons license.
