The Vietnam War was in no way, shape, or form a service to this country, and anyone who voluntarily went over there is in no way a hero.
McCain was a member of the military before the war began. The only part that was voluntary for him was that he volunteered to be moved into active military combat. Lets be clear about this. McCain was ALREADY in the military. He was a combat pilot, and he choose to volunteer for that rrather then be ordered-because he probably knew either way he would fight.
And while your opinion of the vietnam war is yours, its also based on a ton of 20/20 hindsight. When you are in the military the "luxury" of that is not there, and the volunteering for combat part just means you rather then some other guy goes in first. It doesn't mean a additional person goes, nor does it mean that you necessarily support it. In fact McCain complained in letters back home that the military was being micromanaged by people who did not know how to win a war.
Neither was someone who put his tail between his legs, claimed bonespurs and then went and played tennis and football.
He wasn't standing up for any principles.
Trump is a flat-out coward and has demonstrated that numerous times.
I don't know why you're bringing up Trump. I can't stand him.
The only true heroes of that era were the ones who were drafted and either escaped to Canada or went to jail rather than get sent over to die for nothing.

"Winning" is subjective, especially when it comes to dying for politicians, arms manufacturers, and the idea of "freedom."
The only justified war this country has fought since its independence was the War of 1812. And that's because we were invaded. Don't even try to @ me with WWII, either, because it has been proven that FDR provoked the Japanese and specifically and deliberately moved the U.S. fleet to Honolulu because he knew they would be targets. Besides, we stole Hawaii anyway, so it's never been legitimately ours to defend.
Hrm, new sanctions on North Korea but still silent on the Russian sanctions that were supposed to happen.
The sanctions would hamper trumps ability to negotiate with Russia. The sanctions are a knee jerk reaction doing more harm than good. If the Russians know what he can or can't do, they get a distinct advantage in any negotiations.
Sanctions would have been good for a GWB or Obama, Trump is a cat of a different color. Why take away his forte?

Uhmmmm because he sucks at it? Because just ignoring what the Russians did simply lets them continue to do it?
I generally watch the White House youtube channel after dinner to catch up, mostly with press briefings. Looking forward to CPAC speech.
