Most schools already have this. Columbine and Marjory Stoneman Douglas both had armed resource officers, but that didn't do anything to keep either school safe.

The sane Americans--and there are millions upon millions of us, even though it must not seem like it--wish the same thing. Unfortunately, our government is owned by the NRA right now.

But we're working on that. And the effort is being led by our astute and politically active young adults. Change is in the air.

That’ll never happen.

To we Americans, barbarism equals FREEDOM.

Good to hear, hats off to this generation, sometimes it takes the spirit and courage of the young to really make changes. When kids at school get gunned down 'over there' it breaks our hearts 'over here' too.

Often, when people age, they get wiser, more pragmatic, and their idealistic, and unrealistic political views change. That is just reality. We won't become the UK, nor Europe, especially with the gun issue.

I lived in the district that Columbine was in, and I believe they had one, unarmed security guy, and the perps new he'd be in the opposite end of the building at that time. So, no we don't already have what I am recommending.

You're right, we're far to arrogant and stupid to ever get their level of civilization.

I would have said the same thing about the gay marriage issue 15 years ago.

America is being dragged, kicking and screaming, out of the Middle Ages...whether we like it or not.

But do find it easy just to shrug off the fact that thousands of people are shooting each other to death over there every year? Even if doing 'something / anything' to try and change things resulted in ONE life saved wouldn't it be worth it?

If wanting to keep rights, and freedoms is arrogant, and stupid, and uncivilized, then guilty as charged!

I will take that infinitesimal risk to remain free.
