It is a frightening thought, arming staff is not the answer.
Arming you would obviously not be the answer. It would have to be someone who is willing to do the job, if and when the time would come. Would you volunteer if the schools district required a certain number of volunteers in each school, otherwise they would consider hiring replacements?

I remember a time when law-abiding citizens didn't feel the need to arm themselves to the teeth and no one had military-grade weapons. Hunters hunted and marksmen competed just the same.

If I were a conspiracy theorist, I would think that the NRA wants us to have a government breakdown so that the people who want to bear military weapons would gain power over those of us who prefer a peaceful civilization with such weapons in the hands of those whom we have commissioned to serve the country.

It is unrealistic for you to think that the abolition of government will happen, so it's just time for you to leave.
Statism is a cancer.

Those commissioned to "serve the country" slaughter people in illegal, pointless overseas wars and shoot down unarmed people in the streets, in their homes, and in hotel hallways here.

But that's what Statists consider a "civilized society."

In any volunteer plan they would have brightly colored arm bands or some other method of identifying friendlies to the police entering the building.

Meanwhile, the teacher in the next room, who is also armed, is already loaded and waiting for the shooter to get in his line of sight. See how that works?

It will fire many times faster and more effectively than the teacher throwing books or staplers at the shooter.

It very well might make even a crazy person reconsider the action in the first place. What crazed student would want to take a chance that a teacher would become a hero for shooting him?

If the students are protected with bullet proof windows, then the wannabe spew killers can roam inside the schools without fear that the police could shoot the from outside as well. that way, they have more freedom to kill more students. You aren't too bright, are you?

It's being reported that Cruz tried to shoot out window glass on one of the upper floors so he could fire down on the students running from the school.

I believe it was in the teachers lounge.

In any case, he was unsuccessful in that because the windows had hurricane glass and they cracked but held.

Not sure of the difference between bullet proof and hurricane glass, but it seems maybe its not a bad idea and possibly one of the cheaper solutions to fortify schools.

Somalia has more than one government.
