I went to the doctor's last month. Every year we have to fill out new paperwork, this year was no exception.

I had to read some of the questions out loud to share with my son. Others in the waiting room laughed along with us as I read:

Are you a transgender person?
Are you male, female, or other?
What would you like to be called? (here it listed the usual he, she and a few others.)

There were more weird questions and I read them all aloud and answered all of them.

However, nothing about my sexual life or if I owned guns.

I still chuckle when I think of sitting there reading those questions aloud and everyone laughing about the stupidity of even being asked to answer them.

(I do realize that this might be a joke to some of us, but for those who are transgender, this must be something important to them. )
