Lets see if we can come up with some real good ideas to better prepare our kids in the event of a shooting.
My daughters school has a lock the door, hunker down scenario.
Some schools cant do this as they cant have the door lock the kids inside, due to safety.
I like these ideas this company promotes.

Some feel, like I do, that getting the hell out of the classroom is better. Like, break window, sweep, and run to LEO screaming "student" with hands up....Or whatever and call me..
If a shooter is having issues loading, clearing weapon etc, RUN the other way.
Remember, fight or flight comes into play, and adrenaline is extremely high, trust me.
Thoughts.
No weapons discussion here. Just school design, policy etc etc.

electronic locking doors in the hallways and for classrooms.

A separate alarm next to the fire alarm. Pull the alarm and the doors automatically close and lock after a series of warning beeps to give people time to get into a room.

this can trap a shooter either in a classroom or in the hallway allowing the school to be on lockdown until police can come and do a systematic clearing by section.

This is very expensive solution, but we could use the border wall funding to pay for it. Permitting/testing for gun purchasers can go a long way also.

Some schools are so poorly funded, they have trailers while awaiting bldgs to be built. How about a perimter fence, dual, with canines and cameras around perimeter monitored by LEO or school funded pruvate security...

Aquariums in the hall to add more real fish to the fish in the barrel.

Pop out targets in the walls of the halls that look like students.

Guard dogs that have been trained to respond to gunfire and the smell of black powder or ammo.

Guard dogs that have been trained to respond to gunfire and the smell of black powder or ammo. This would be difficult, as some kids go to school with hunting jackets etc.. Trust me, TSA has stopped friends who had powder on jeans..
A single point entry, depending on size of school, metal detectors, and xray machines for back packs etc.

Parkland school has fences and electronically controlled gates around the school. As I understand it the gates were opened in anticipation of the end of the school day.

When the fire alarm was pulled , it over road internal security systems so students could flee.

As I understand it about $1 million was budgeted for a new internal security system because of the propensity of kids to pull fire alarms as pranks.

I favor doing whatever it takes to prevent guns, knives and bombs from getting into schools, easier said than done, given there are 100,000 public schools in the US. Structures are different ages, designs and finances.

It will come down to state/ district decisions.

All Cleveland schools have airport type security.

Most here don't care about making the schools safer it's ban the guns or do nothing at all when one talks about making the schools safer they start chanting that your trying to make the school a police state.
So when this happens again and it will then everyone will start spouting the same old crap.

Understand, thats why I am looking for ideas. Only Socialist and Communists ban weapons, then they go in for the slaughter. So, in home defense of family , we have a deterrent, the 2A.
Now, back on topic.
