Murder justification is not the intent. Its just, facts will sometimes change mindset on how bad things are here and elsewhere. The world has problems, no country is perfect. But, I will say, the USA is pretty safe, barring chicago and detroit..
In 2017, the UK mass murder rate (per 100,000) was 50% higher than the US.
In 2015, The French mass murder rate was 15 times (yes 15 times) the US rate.
In 2016 France had nearly 5 times times the mass murder deaths per capita than the US, even though that year the US had it's deadliest mass shooting up until then.
Lets move on to Australia with it's oft-touted gun ban. In 2017 the Aussies had 61.5% more mass murders per capita than the US. In 2014, Australia had a .079 per 100,000 mass murder rate, the US mass murder rate in 2014 was 0.005, the Aussie rate was almost 16 times the US rate for 2014!
From 2007 to 2017 the Australian mass murder rate was 0.225 per 100,000. The US mass murder rate over the same period was 0.17 per 100,000. In other words, over that time period, an Australian had a 32% higher chance than an American of being the victim of a mass murder.
In the UK the mass murder rate for that period of time was indeed better than the US at 0.074 vs 0.17 respectively.
In France from 2007-2017, the mass murder rate was a staggering 0.58 per 100,000, more than 3 times the mass murder rate of the US over that time period.
The 2007-2017 Finnish mass murder rate was 0.51 per 100,000, 3 times the US rate.
The 2007-2017 Norwegian mass murder rate is an astonishing 1.47 per 100,000, nearly 9 times the US rate.
The 2007-2017 Belgian mass murder rate was 0.33 per 100,000, double the US rate.
Now, there are plenty of countries with very little mass murder, but the narrative that the US is the only industrialized nation with a mass murder problem is complete and utter ********.
I only included events with at least 4 deaths, not including the perp(s), the standard FBI mass murder definition. My US numbers were derived using mostly mass shootings as that's far and away the most common mass murder method in the US and there's no comprehensive "massacre" list like there is for other countries. I can think of the 8 victims in the NYC truck attack and I'm sure there were arsons in there too, but it's hard to find those and other non-firearm mass murders over that time period.
