So they thought they got all the guns, nope. Look at that pile of junk that got turned in. It looks just the gun buy backs we currently have. Complete proof you cannot disarm your population unless you go nazi style door to door.

I think they got about 57,000 in this amnesty program. They destroyed about a million guns during the buyback phase back in the late 90's. Of course you are never going to get every gun, that would be unrealistic. But a $280,000 fine and 14 years in jail is a pretty strong motivator to comply. Plus, most people want to be law abiding.

lol look what they show on the report a rocket launcher which is probably deactivated which one if it is real will never be sold in a store or two if is deactivated and perfectly legal in your military surplus store
AND a homemade machine gun.....HOMEMADE which proves you can't get rid of guns

Except for the fact that they got rid of 1 MILLION guns during the buyback phase in the late 90's. Of course not every gun will be eradicated, why would anyone ever think that? But with a $280,000 fine and 14 years in jail a lot of people are going to be complying, as evidenced by these old relics in this recent amnesty program. Not to mention that most citizens want to obey the law.

You’re making the argument against your position. If you can’t get non law-abiding people to turn over their guns then the law-abiding will want to keep theirs. I do not want to be like Mexican citizens, completely helpless in the face of gun toting cartels. They aren’t allowed to buy guns, but obviously the other side is.

Try that in the u.s.a where there is a different mindset where many....upon many would not obey that law. What do you think the after effects of that would be. A choked legal system, in some cases death on both sides of the law, and the financial cost of trying to uphold that law.Thousands upon thousands of citizens set to go to prison who never have and never would do anything wrong with their gun.
I'm trying to understand just how this is possible. After all, all the guns in question were outlawed back in 1996, so 21 years before this summary of turned in guns. 57,000 guns turned in...that were possessed in the country. Illegally.... Seems as if the gun ban was a failure, doesn't it?
