In March 2001, she was granted a green card in the elite EB-1 program, which was designed for renowned academic researchers, multinational business executives or those in other fields, such as Olympic athletes and Oscar-winning actors, who demonstrated “sustained national and international acclaim.”

“We called it the Einstein visa,” said Bruce Morrison, a former Democratic congressman and chairman of the House subcommittee that wrote the Immigration Act of 1990 defining EB-1.

If she won a visa through this process, will Eric win the Noble Prize for Science?

Rich guys game the process.

Shocking (not!)

IIRC Melania DOES have a high IQ. Her marrying a well known womanizer I will not speak to her wisdom.

I don't think you read the article.

To obtain an EB-1 under the extraordinary ability category, an immigrant has to provide evidence of a major award or meet at least three out of 10 criteria. Among them: evidence of commercial successes in the performing arts, evidence of work displayed at artistic exhibitions and evidence of original contributions to a field.

“What did she submit?” asked David Leopold, an immigration lawyer and a past president of the American Immigration Lawyers Association. “There are a lot of questions about how she procured entry into the United States.”

IIRC any article indicating her IQ. Even if it is very high, that does not qualify you for the Einstein visa. It is about outstanding accomplishments in a given field, usually science.

Fascinating how WaPo focuses on the LEGAL immigration of the wife of a Republican as if there was something wrong with it, all while promoting amnesty of millions of illegal aliens.

Why some of you pay mind to WaPo daily nonsense is beyond me.

b/c your Daddy is a hypocrite. It seems he's all against immigration when' it's not hot chicks. Somehow a model with no college degree dating a "billionaire" got a visa meant for scientists, but his lemming followers seem to not care. I'm wondering if it's her ground breaking work on cyber bullying that she used to gain entry. Going undercover to investigate/research the world's biggest cyber bully I guess.

Def draining the swamp here. I guess we'll have frat dudes at "the wall" and if a hot Mexican woman that looks like Selma Hayek strolls up she can hop on through.

What accomplishment(s) warranted Melania's EB-1 under the extraordinary ability category?

If you have enough money, a clever immigration lawyer can find a loophole through which an alien can obtain an immigrant visa to the USA.

So... does your post mean you support Trump's reforming the immigration process?

Not if the Visa was granted fraudulently.

The Washington Post is one of the premier papers in the United State winning 47 Pulitzer Prizes and well known for its investigative reporting and political analysis. Only the far right take issue with this outstanding paper.

In Trumplandia, being Donny's main squeeze is the equivalent of a PhD in rocket science to the faithful.
