I don't think the Chinese are going to be that bothered.
It's US neighbours Canada and Mexico along with Brazil and the EU (mainly Germany) who will be most upset.
Trump is going to destroy NAFTA, and the Germans are just going to put massive pressure on the EU to take all kinds of action in response.
The Far East with the exception of South Korea export much less to the US already, so they will not be as badly effected, although they will still seek to retailate with tariffs on US goods.
Did it ever occur to the dotard that if america puts tariffs on imported products other countries will retaliate by putting tariffs on American imports to their country. Expect less jobs as countries avoid doing business with America and expect higher prices for products imported into America.
What was the motivation for this? Creating jobs? Most steel and aluminum factories are highly automated these days.
Creating jobs??? This will result in layoffs as corporations will be paying more foe steel and aluminum they will be cutting costs elsewhere (e.g. - payrolls).
These same guys who are cheering this move by Trump will be back in a few months crying because everything from toasters to cars will be costing a Hell of a lot more. For every action, there is an equal and opposite reaction. If Trump thinks the rest of the world will take this sitting down, he is going to be in for quite the surprise.
They will be complaining about layoffs when other countries retaliate and add new tariffs on products and goods which the USA sells to those countries. In turn, the people in those other countries will stop buying the American products because they cost too much (due to the added tariff).
The companies in the US that produce, process and sell those goods will be forced to layoff which means lots of jobs lost in the USA.
This could be farmers which are impacted because the USA sells a lot of farm products to other countries. There would be a big trickle down impact whereas other companies will layoff such as banks that deal with farmers, farm equipment, food processors, shipping companies, real estate.
US exports a lot of vehicles and machinery to other countries. This could mean massive layoffs in US manufacturing across the USA. This would also have a trickle down impact.

The Germans are going to put pressure on the EU as they are the EU's major steel manufacturer, as pointed out in my last post.
Trump is going to upset Canada and Mexico who are both major steel importers in to the US and members of NAFTA, and such tariffs really make the whole concept of a North American Free Trade Area fairly pointless.
South Korea and Brazil are the two other major exporters, after that most other countries with the exception of Taiwan (a very small nation) will not be as badly hit but will still impose tariffs on US goods in response.

You did not explain why they would put pressure on EU. Are you arguing Trumps policies will put them in position to export more to US?
