Taxes are oppressive punishment.

I am surprised daily, at the intellectual dishonesty displayed by the tax and spend left. Not everyone is ignorant.
Yet, "using tax policy to punish and/or reward a specific company" is exactly what they did. They even telegraphed that they intended to do it.

You know, that fascist corporate welfare.
The strong arm of the tax law can be used to attract, or repel business. GA is using it to repel by targeting non-NRA friendly companies. Who, in their right mind, would want to open shop in GA.

Maybe Miami can accommodate some of Delta operations while they search for a more business friendly city.

I doubt Delta is going anywhere because the CEO is savvy enough to know it's not about the entire state of Georgia. They are coddled by the City of Atlanta which owns and operates Hartsfield-Jackson airport. No matter how ignorant the state's GOP rhetoric becomes, Atlanta and Delta will prevail when it's all said and done.

While Delta’s intent was to remain neutral, some elected officials in Georgia tied our decision to a pending jet fuel tax exemption, threatening to eliminate it unless we reversed course. Our decision was not made for economic gain and our values are not for sale. We are in the process of a review to end group discounts for any group of a politically divisive nature.
None of this changes the fact that our home is Atlanta and we are proud and honored to locate our headquarters here. And we are supporters of the 2nd Amendment, just as we embrace the entire Constitution of the United States.

Bad move by the Georgia GOP. Don't act like Democrats.

Great point made about new businesses reconsidering relocating to Georgia. Anytime a state government feels necessary to intervene and cost your business millions over something so incredibly trivial as a discount to NRA members, you are going to think twice about setting up shop there.

An incredibly damaging decision for future business investment in Georgia. Thinking people in that state are just shaking their heads over such a dumb move.

Yeah, and assures Amazon crosses GA off the H2Q list.

There are a ton of other states who will welcome Delta, I'm sure. And maybe even Amazon, by extension. GA needs to be concerned about job losses for its citizens. What I don't understand is how GA thinks it can extort Delta like that.

While I believe it's a bonehead move by several in Georgia's GOP that may very well affect Atlanta's chances for HQ2, it's not like there aren't opposition forces in play here negotiating with Amazon who already has significant operations in Atlanta.

This fool Cagle is still in the running for Governor so Georgians have not had an opportunity to express their opinions regarding this issue in the ballot box.

That's why I stated in another forum, it shouldn't be a surprise if Bezos waits until after the Midterm elections in November to make his HQ2 decision.

Delta should dump Georgia and move its operations elsewhere.

Delta doesn't control that. No we are just being silly.
