All of this. Plus, for years he was raised to believe his mother was his sister. No father's name was given on the birth certificate, if I'm not mistaken.

That’s right, I forgot that. Thanks for posting.

One problem with the OP's theory is that most serial killers and recent mass murderers have been legally adults.

I agree that it is a parent's duty to raise their children to the best of their ability, and to teach them right from wrong.

However, when a child is legally an adult, a parent cannot force them to go to therapy if they're troubled, or to take medication, or monitor their online activity... nor can they prevent them from purchasing firearms.

I agree the most important factor society doesnt push is raising kids as a real family.. Nurture, disciplines, understanding right from wrong. Religions used to be the cornerstone to teach good moral pathways. Now that the left has vilified religion, okay only one, Christianity and maybe a dose of Jewish, people are morally decaying.
And spanking, well, its a good thing, or a swat on the hand with a wooden ruler.. Good ole Catholic school.
Flame on.

How dare you expect parents to raise their kids. That’s the governments’s job.

Where did you pull this out? Do you not know this is utter nonsense?

OP, do you advocate raising children in caves with no access to the outside world? Because that's the only way your "method" would work.
Yeah, I never beat mine either and they are doing great. The secret is parents need to be the parent and not the BFF. It's called tough love for a reason. It really hurts being the one to make your child upset. The fact is though, better it comes from love than an uncaring world. Kids today are struggling because all those participation trophies failed to prepare them for the reality. Only success is rewarded.

Mental illness. Did it just start 20 years ago? Yes mental illness is a huge factor. Even bigger is the lack of human compassion and res-expect for another's right to life. Add to this a complete lack of respect for the family unit. My generation cared about bring shame to our family. Obviously that is less true today.

I hope they pass a national gun violence restraining order. I know they’ve been talking seriously about it. It would allow a family member to request a restraining order from a court to restrain them from buying guns (if the court rules), even without a criminal record.

It has nothing to do with families, and everything to do with media attention and the Internet keeping everything available to feed people’s obsessions. Clearly the Columbine shooting wouldn’t have had so many followers if it didn’t occur right as the Internet became so readily available to everyone. And the media isn’t helping with this one because it’s 24/7 wall coverage of it continues unabated. They know for a fact the attention causes copycats, but they need the clicks and the issue for the midterms.

I’d be OK if we just lock the person up after the hearing.

It’s stupid to allow people, who are too dangerous to own firearms, to walk on the street.
