To me, banning AR-15s or any other type is political expediency at it's worst It's a typical knee-jerk 'Let's do something, anything' reaction to make the populace believe the pols are on the case. I find even the proposed limits on magazines pretty silly considering how quickly a magazine can be changed. I'll take a sane neighbor with a safe full of AR-15s over a flaming lunatic with a 2 shot Derringer anytime/anyplace.
Isn't that the real issue in a nutshell, the REQUIREMENTS?
Could you throw some sliced banana in with those apples and oranges? The Koran is far from the only 'holy' book that would kill people for no good reason, Leviticus would put a man to death for having sex with a woman during her period among other things.

I don't like the sign in the OP either. Is the NRA promoting views hugely unpopular with a large part of society? Certainly. Does the NRA's leadership openly advocate violence to advance its agenda? No. Even less does it facilitate violence by procuring guns, bombs, etc. and get its members to commit it. That is what makes that sign frankly hysterical, appealing to the more primitive parts of our brain.
If the NRA is a terrorist group, then every interest group promoting hugely unpopular views is one as well, including "liberal" ones like PETA, Earth First, etc.
So let's reserve terrorist for groups or individuals who promote or actively use plausibly deadly violence to advance their social, political, and cultural agenda.
Which leave patriot. So if you aren't a terrorist if you support the NRA, then are you unpatriotic if you don't own a firearm (or worse yet, a traitor)? Big obvious "No" here. Even that view is rejected by the vast majority of NRA members. I don't even need to discuss this one.
So opposing the NRA and its goals is all well and good, that sign simply cheapens the use of the words terrorist, patriot, and unpatriotic.
