Well where ever yo get your info please stop. Because you keep getting this story wrong. Just like the other day when you claimed Trump divested himself from his businesses. You claimed he had to as it was the law.

And why would the entire Electrolux line be affected? They have factories in multiple countries.
I apologize for going over your head in the difference between Produced product and Material costs.
The difference between American Made with American Materials VS American Assembled with Foreign Product VS Foreign Made with Foreign Product.

Sorry about that.

While it's nice that wages at GE's plant are high, the fact that they pay high wages AND will also now face higher costs for steel puts that plant in even more jeopardy than the Electrolux plant. In fact, GE recently sold the plant, in part because its costs were high. And guess who bought it? YUP, THE CHINESE.

This theoretical perfect economy of yours wherein wages are low and steel is cheap, apart from making the upper management filthy rich while line workers grow ever poorer, what purpose does it serve?

You seem to be a communist. You seem to believe that laws of supply and demand can be violated at will without consequence, or maybe they don't even really exist, and as a result of those beliefs, we can just will an economy into being whatever it is we want it to be - we only need to will the correct thing. You seem to believe we can pay workers $50/hour without consequence, and that we can deprive companies of profits without consequence. You also seem to believe we can enact these measures, resulting in jacking up prices for everything, once again without consequence. You seem to believe just as many people will buy a dishwasher at $2000/each as will buy the same dishwasher at $500/each.

The fact that you're asking the question that you asked indicates, as I said before, that you do not grasp even the most basic economic principles.

An example, described by a U.S. keg company owner, of how this new steel tariff can make Chinese imports MORE competitive than their U.S. based competitors:

Quote:
Bentley says he's "horrified" by the proposal, adding it could raise the cost of doing business to the point where it's unsustainable.

That's because the tariffs would further drive up his cost to buy domestic steel, while Chinese kegs, which would not be covered by the tariff because they are already manufactured, would stay cheap.

"When a Chinese keg delivered to America costs only a little more than what we pay for just the steel, there really is no point in trying to compete on that basis," says Bentley.

Think about all your canned goods (green beans, Campbell's soup, beer, etc) cost go up because can prices go up. Trumps rich CEO buddies get richer and the average consumer pays for it.
