Having a child is a personal issue. Why should companies pay for people’s personal choices.
It's a thing called work-life balance. Paying employees is what companies do. And giving them benefits along with paying them is what good companies do. Better companies offer more benefits and better benefits. It's part of what they do to get good workers and to retain good workers.
Or the fact that many workplaces don't even give time off for illness. It's absurd, yet when a company offers something like this, or more paid sick or vacation time, or higher starting pay, they are mocked by the very people who don't enjoy those benefits.
I think American workers have a collective case of Stockholm Syndrome.
That's why everyone comes into work sick and it spreads like wild fire.
How much do you think Jeff Bezo is worth to Amazon?
I'll always maintain there is a difference between a CEO who founded the company and a CEO who is just a CEO.
A better example is Apple.
Tim Cook is not worth his compensation. Apple is still thriving off of Jobs legacy. I really cannot think of anything Cook has done to add to the company to make him worth hundreds of millions.
Don't even get me started on the foolhardy usage of stock options these days by these big companies. IMO, stock owners need to take back all these companies from the revolving door of the boards and management.
Sounds like the free market doing its thing. I thought conservatives liked that?
But it's doing it wrong! It's like Hollywood making money or successful companies operating out of California, there's this palpable sense of betrayal - they've been praising the free market, yet it still fails to punish the sinners and reward the righteous.

I'm perfectly okay with pawternity. People bond with their critters in ways it's impossible for non-critter owners to understand. Twenty years go I would've been smugly dismissive of the whole idea, but not after we adopted a cute little puppy. It's amazing the loving relationship humans develop with their pets, and the death of a beloved animal is as painful as the death of a beloved human.
Pawternity should be extended to the death of an animal because as a former manager when someone's loved animal dies the employee is worthless at work. Pet owning managers learned to look the other way when the sick calls came in.
Most overpaid multimillion dollar per year CEO’s didn’t establish the company that pays them.
Gimme a break.
