I think it is your duty as an American to keep a firearm. It's a form of respect for what this country is, and what history was.

But I am against civilian ownership of assault rifles.

Mandatory Gun Ownership?
If you really believe that then "the home of the free" needs to be removed from Our National Anthem.
And you are just as bad as people who want no guns in every household.
(I am so tired of this Nanny state movement, where the Government thinks it can tell me what to do,
what to eat, drink, and buy....I am not a child and I can decide some things for my family and myself
without all this Government intervention, and sticking their noses into places where it does not belong.)
Free Will and Freedom of Choice can be a beautiful thing.
Less Government and Government regulations with ridiculous laws like these could be a really beautiful
thing too, if only....

Quite true, my choice, if I want to buy certain guns fine, my choice, also if I choose not to buy any guns also my choice. I hating having the choice made for me by someone else.

Anyone know how long this law has been on the books? It sounds like one of those old laws that just never gets scrubbed from the books.

I thought it would have been way back then as an obscure law that they forgot to take off myself. Or at least maybe in the 50 and 60s when they were worried about communists.
I live out here and view it as simply a bit of interesting trivia.

Here are the numbers in my town:

Population: 41,584
Violent crime on a scale from 1 (low crime) to 100 is 14.
Property crime on a scale from 1 to 100 is 18.

The suburbs typically have lower crime rates than towns outside metro areas.

Since they are probably all Republicans, they probably voted for this. Weird.

Well, you’re not going to catch me anywhere that place. You got big government telling you what to do and then local yahoos want to tell you what to do as well. Forget about it.
