This was what my vote boiled down to - why I voted for Mr. Trump and why I was a "single issue" voter. Precisely because I feel that the SCOTUS (and the president we put in, and who they nominate to the Court) is maybe the last hope that I have as having a real effect on the Country.

Definitely happy about this!
What decisions do you hope the SCOTUS enacts/overturns that you feel will be net positives?

I didn't realize we were in a presidential election year. Major fail.

McConnell said that the next president should pick the next justice in a presidential election year.

Elena Kagan was confirmed in August 2010, a midterm election year.

Trump will be replacing Kennedy AND Ginsburg before his first term is up.

I wonder how many he might get in his second term.
None, because there won't be one. He appoints someone far to the right of Kennedy, and Trump's opposition will be beyond motivated this November and in 2020. Count on it.

The Senate is not a rubber stamp for presidential Supreme Court choices. Borking and Garlanding differ in certain ways, but in one critical way they are the same. The are both 100% legal and constitutional.
Oh, bull.

I'm all for this. Appointing conservative judges and border security are the only two things I was able to tolerate back in Nov '16knowing Trump would be president. He's failed miserably at border security, but he's appointed a bunch of conservative judges and now will be able to nominate a second SCOTUS. Obama got to nominate two himself.

I think Trump should be very careful with who he appoints. I know every conservative immediately thinks of going with a judge that will vote tow the party line and be vote "hard right" on every issue. But Trump could do himself a favor if he picks a center-conservative.
