Obama certainly didn't ramble. His speeches were coherent and thought provoking. Trump may be trolling liberals, but he really is incoherent, and I don't think CNN, MSNBC, or other networks are making fake news.

Or when coal fires up the kiln in cement production, or is used to make steel, or is used to generate electricity.

No, he really isn't, not in the sense that what he says is unintelligible. He speaks in a conversational New York style that Americans are familiar with and have no trouble understanding.

See my post #36. It's not worth repeating myself to answer you, since you obviously don't have a clue.

The steel industry no longer uses coal. There has not been an open hearth furnace in America since the last one was shut down in 1992.

Steel requires electricity now. The only coal used in the manufacture of steel today is used in coal-fired power plants. The coal power plants have an efficiency rating of 33%, and are gradually being converted to natural gas, which has a 62% rating.

Coal is a dinosaur, no pun intended. Even in your state of Education, wherever that is.

So this qualifies as more of a rally than a speech?

Yeah, Trump really is incoherent. It is because you approve of the content that you focus on the message then process the delivery as acceptable. Conversational style is one thing but when an individual demonstrates over time that they have no other style then it becomes natural to wonder if the man's mind works the way the man's mouth does.

Again, that you do not wonder says less about your awareness of this conversational pattern than the fact he's telling you what you want to hear. That a non-Trump voter objects says less that they "hate him" but more that they process his speech as transmitting incompetence because there is no inherent "approval bias."

Trump formalizes up when using a teleprompter but he's terrible at reading speeches in stark contrast to the salesmanship mode where he does do well for there is a strong subliminal element to selling. That you buy.

Well since the thread topic touches on grammar, maybe it IS better that Fox Terrier use parallel construction in his sentence ...

no other president or administration WOULD meet with him or his father. and if cheeto thinks rocket man is going to de-nuke, well he's frankly deranged!

Better now? It's that informal style, but employed consistently.

Full speeches? Perish the thought.

The part where he expresses his Duterte-envy, is the worst. Of course, we wouldn't expect this draft-dodger to actually go out and attack drug dealers face-to-face. That speech was supposed to be in support of a congressional candidate, but his main topic was himself, as usual. If that republican goes down Tuesday, in a district that gave Trump a 20% margin in 2016, there will be many of his party who will invite him to stay out of the picture, in their campaigns this fall.
