I don't think he really wanted it at first, he was really out of his league in this job but after a year he was up to speed. The worst part of this is all that Exxon stock he sold off to get this job, imagine the gains over the past year.
The irony is that Trump didn't unload any of his holdings.
I think that modern times have shown us that there is no such thing as "out of your league" for a job.
Remember - this is the admin that appointed Rick Perry...to head a dept. in command of our nuclear weapons development. Mr. Perry is a completely clueless individual. He (and probably Trump) didn't even know what that dept. did - I think Perry wanted to eliminate it!
Plus - Perry probably wanted to get rid of it due to the name "energy". That is, as a bought-and-sold Oil Pol, Perry wanted to do away with anything related to regulating energy...
Take that times 1,000 and you will get some idea of how many people (Ben Carson, etc.) are far "out of their league". You are making quite an assumption to think that any of this admins. appointments are "in the league".
Steve Goldstein, top spokesman for Rex Tillerson was fired Tuesday for contradicting the official administration account of Tillerson's firing, a White House official told NBC News.
In all fairness Tillerson was asked to resign Friday.
"The AP quoted two unnamed senior department officials as saying Tillerson “received a call from John Kelly, Trump’s chief of staff, on Friday, but was only told that there might be a presidential tweet that would concern him. Kelly didn’t tell Tillerson what the tweet might say or when it might actually publish.” In public remarks Tuesday, Trump said he’d been considering replacing Tillerson for some time, but made the final decision recently, and “by myself.” A State Department official, speaking on condition of anonymity, said there was little clarity at the department over what was happening or who was in charge. “We are all waiting for something official,” the official said." https://www.theatlantic.com/internat...meline/555464/
Wasn't Tillerson considered one of the "grown ups" in the Trump cabinet?
Absolutely. Just like when Kelly came on board, the hopes were that some of the "adults" would bring some sense and order to all the chaos created by Donald Trump, and be able to contain him a little. But, as everyone before them found out, Trump is an out of control maniac, and it digs at his fragile ego when someone doesn't praise every word that comes out of his mouth.
My God, the ridiculously high number of people who have come and gone in only one year is beyond insane, it verges on the bizarre. If there are any Republicans in the Senate and House who are actually ethical and dedicated to their jobs, they have to be looking at this administration and wondering where the Hell it will end up. It is already looking dim for the GOP in November, due to this horse's ass, and if they allow much more of this nonsense it will be a stake to the heart of any chances they have of keeping the House, and maybe the Senate.
He actually did do that all the time on the Apprentice. So bad example.
I don't think there is anyone more well known for firing people than Trump.
There's a difference between "firing" someone on a reality show versus firing the person responsible for representing the country to the rest of the world. The former was pretend, the latter is real life with real consequences.
