The water we drink is safe because of evil fascist liberal regulations. Before evil fascist liberal regulations, there was cholera.

The current crop of Democrats are anti small business. When Obama was prez, he did thing that would hold small business back or put them out of business while big business grew.

What we are talking about is unskilled workers.

Training and education reduces the number of unskilled workers and thus raises average wages. It is true though that increases supply of any group of workers will lower that groups wages in the absence of increased demand.

This ain’t real controversial for anyone who has had Econ 101. The greater the supply of a good the lower the price of that good if demand does not keep up with supply. Sorry if that was not covered in GED classes.

I would love to see all those heavy regulations on business. Where are they?

A couple years ago a daycare provider left oil on the stove and left children alone to go to Target. The house burned and killed the kids. She did it on purpose The state said she was ok and had given her a permit

A fertilizer company in West Texas blew up the town because they were keeping too much chemical on the premises. Nobody in Texas had the authority to inspect the plant. Not even the fire department.

Exxon Valdez

Deep Water Horizon

That leaky for weeks gas pipeline that exploded and killed some kids

I've lost track of the explosions in petroleum plants and pipelines

How about the people poisoned or killed with tainted food products

Business trumps clean water and air all over the country and all we here is regulation is bad for business. What about people?

My hero Barry Goldwater said any business that cannot operate without polluting should not be in business.

"Business Friendly?"....is that a code word for allowing us to drink and eat and breathe poisons? Or more a code for taking on more debt and deficit?

Or, does it mean not locking up "financial" criminals?

One would need to define "business friendly". I'd say Germany is business friendly...yet they work less hours, have universal health care, child care and 5 weeks min. vacation...and much more.

Or does the OP mean "Big Bad Boss" friendly? Tough one to figure out....

Buffet and Gates and many of their ilk are more to the moderate and left side of the spectrum.

There aren't separate economics for skilled and unskilled labor. If you don't understand your own argument, then don't use it. Your claim that immigration adds to the labor pool and is therefore anti-worker would mean that also applies to ANYTHING that adds to the labor pool including training & education.

If you want to make the case that Democrats are anti-worker for adding to the labor pool, then you need to rethink your argument b/c what you just spouted is nonsense.

And just for S&G: Would the party of the working man fight to raise the threshold that exempts them for overtime pay or oppose it?

You make it out as if this were a zero-sum game.

It is possible to support the interests of working people (safety at work, better compensation, protecting their rights against harassment), and consumers, and the elderly, and the infirm and also advocate to keep families from being forcibly parted and care about what happens to refugees.

It's not an either-or question.
