It's illegal for governments to accept private donations for public projects of this sort. It just invites corruption, not the least of which is the democratic process. Think about it. If "the wall" can be funded from private "GoFundMe" donations to the US government, what is there to prevent the government from accepting those same types of donations to build transgenered bathrooms in schools?
Only 36% of Americans want a border wall built to keep out Mexicans. Why not have a fund for those who care about this issue so much to fund it themselves? Sort of like an Adopt-a-Highway for the paranoid.

Send your checks to the gov to cover your share of their cost, I'm tired of paying for it.
The wall will pay for itself over time. Its costing billions of dollars a year just to detain and incarcerate illegal immigrants crossing from south of the our border.
Wait, are we incarcerating them or giving them billions in welfare?
Hint: illegal immigrants get deported. If an immigrant is receiving the benefits I mentioned above, they are legal.
I guess some folks here dont care if an immigrant is legal or not, despite almost certainly descending from immigrants themselves.
