Some of the deadliest massacres in the US were carried out using European made firearms. These European gun manufacturers need new markets because their home countries have deep restrictions or have banned these weapons out right.

One out of every four guns is European made.

There is hypocrisy in that these governments pass laws to protect their own citizens but allow their export to the US.

Not so ironically, these gun manufacturers are big donors to the NRA.

As to 2nd amendment arguments, the US Supreme Court has made clear government can make laws to control guns.

Are American citizens mere cannon fodder for these companies to make a profit and should we limit the amount of arms being imported into this nation? Should we add tariffs to guns?

Lot of the European imports go to the LE and military, but we sell them to civilians too.

I thought the same except the article's focus was civilian sales.

So OP, these guns have been made and imported for far longer than than just the last few years.....what changed? Did all those guns just decide to start killing people? Or did people change?

Do you really believe there wouldn't be an increase in American gun manufacturing capacity if foreign ones were either banned or stiffly taxed? It's a business like any other and supply will always attempt to keep up with demand.

That is a fair question. According to the link, it is the increase in the share number of guns from roughly 2 million guns to 4 million guns in the last six years.

The question that I am getting at is the US a dumping ground for gun manufacturers and the attitudes of respective governments towards protecting their citizens.
