You say my logic is twisted but then at the end say that I might be right.
The school called it a protest prior to the event?

If so, that's huge.

If the school called it a protest then he refused to be their pawn.

You do not get to be the one that defines a protest for others.

He was one of the few that actually protested.

It won't work, I tried. The OP's "source" cherry picked the actual facts and spun them into a falsehood.

This happens all the time in high school. Kids are not allowed to stay in classrooms unsupervised. The teacher in question may have been needed to supervise the study hall -- we don't know.

All we know -- the student defied authority.

He wasn't doing what was right.

He was doing what he wanted.
The TEACHER was the one that "defied instruction". He/she is paid to teach. If they chose not to do their job, they need to be replaced.

As far as the other students-again, what is the school's policy regarding truancy or ditching class?

Why do you feel it's cute to continue to repeat a debunked argument?

This is always true. These are KIDS! That's what kids do. We should treat them like kids.

That's the point of being principled: not compromising, forcing the immoral rules (in your eyes) being put on you to be applied equally, and to cause great strain to your enemy.

And brass can nail him for it as you said. That's what authoritarians do.

Even students of this age should know you cannot protest every little thing with which you disagree. Wait for something meaningful - something that really matters. This isn't it.

If you have a legitimate issue you're willing to take a stand for, whether they say it or not, teachers will respect you. This kind of thing? He was arguing about where he planted his behind and nothing more. No good reason for it, no legitimate cause. He just painted himself as a problem. That's not too bright, in my opinion.

Not because of the protesters...
