What a odd position for the Church to take.... The sponsor of the bill was also Republican Jason Spencer. Jason would have my vote.

Not odd at all when you read this statement: "legislation that would extend the time child abuse victims would have to sue the perpetrators and the institutions that harbored them."

They're trying to mitigate their future damages.

This is why I left the Catholic church when I was 16. It's despicable how they continue to try to shield pedophile priests.

Tell them to go to Hades, and proceed, Ga State legislature.

If they stop hiring perverts, they have nothing to fear.

What is it with these abuse victims that don’t press charges with the police and instead sue the company/organization that the person belings to? I’d be more concerned about getting the perpetrator behind bars so they can’t hurt others instead of trying to get some financial reward from deeper pockets.

It's not weird at all. The Catholic Church has a very long history of covering up child sex abuse cases and has paid out millions when the cover-ups have failed. That legislation would be bad for their bottom line.

I tried to read this book about the church cover-ups but it literally made me queasy and I couldn't finish it. It's very well documented. http://https://www.amazon.com/Betray.../dp/0316776750

Talk about self incrimination, they should count their blessings that the RICO statutes have not been used against them.

Any pedophile priest only went into the priesthood to molest kids and nothing else, the higher ups should have turned them into the authorities instead of covering up for them and now it’s blowing up in their face.

I pity the poor people who have been brainwashed by this cult.

Really you are knocking abuse victims? If some catholic priest molested them and totally screwed up their life they deserve more than a police report.

What is with the Catholic Church that is trying to limit abuse victims? Are they not suppose to help people instead of hindering them?

Shame on you Catholic Church and Retroit.
