A little but we should not have to always have our hand held.

But to answer you - does the telephone company profit from having an ad stapled to a pole? No. Does Craigslist profit from these ads? Yes.
It's right or wrong based upon profit?

Does the telephone company have any control over the content that people staple to the pole? No. Does Craigslist control the presentation of content? Yes.
Wouldn't be a problem if they would just legalize prostitution and license prostitutes. The government could realize revenue from taxes on the income, then. It will never happen as long as politicians are spineless.
Why should they have to be licensed? It's their bodies. It's no one's business what they do with them.
Gotta give a shout out to Rand for being one of only two Senators to vote no on this. You lefties like to give him a lot of crap, but he sure does stand up for our rights pretty consistently.

I'm not in favor of this bc even though I know it's mostly used for sex, I have successfully used the platonic one to find people to go walking/cycling with when I first moved here. It was the only way to find friends bc I worked from home at the time. I'm moving again next week and was planning on using it there.
They really need to make a site to help make friends.
Two scenarios...
1- Craiglist is removing personal ads because they don't want the risk of liability.
2- A college campus says no conservatives can speak there because they don't want the risk of violence and protests.
Are both of those actions curbing free speech?
Not the same.
Here's the 1st Amendment:
Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.
I bolded the important part.
#1 was is curbing free speech by an act of Congress.
#2 is curbing free speech by a private entity. Your free speech isn't protected in this case. You can ask someone to leave your personal or business property if you don't like what they say.
So when people start posting illegal activities on the For Sale section of craigslist or the newspaper, will the media (newspaper, internet service whatever) be responsible for the illegal activity as well? This also can potentially impact online dating sites as well as they are just more sophisticated versions of personal ads.
This is a stupid law made by stupid lawmakers.
Guns don't kill people, people kill people. Ads don't do illegal activity, the people who post them do illegal activity. Talk about hypocrisy.
Hookers should be out walking the streets earning their illegal tax-free money. They don't need to be assisted by mainstream websites used by the general public. Those ads are flaunting illegal services, like the dark web but right out in the open. Good riddens.
