I'm not losing any rights because I will never trust myself with a gun. I have no desire whatsoever to own one not even on a video game (the last shooting game I played was literally only for items on another game and I couldn't wait to finish it). You can vote how you want on the gun policies though. If you feel safer with a gun by all means. Not just anyone should be able to obtain a gun so there should be some restrictions in place but beyond that I don't care what you do. I'm just saying for me personally it's not important and the kids when they get older might feel the same way because not everyone believes in protecting themselves with guns.

Can I own one in California ? The soft on crime laws here have made it a paradise for criminals unfortunately.

There are people arrested and back in the streets within hours .

Need, want...what’s the difference? Being a law abiding, tax paying US citizen, thankfully, I don’t have to answer to anyone about my particular wants or needs. It’s great to be an American!

There are differences between needs and wants.

You sound like my boyfriend's sister-in-law. All she has to say is this, "I don't want to talk about gun all night long. Lily, you don't need an AR-15 End of the story." lol

She has no counter argument, only likes to tell people what to do. Suck to be her daughter, that is for damned sure.

Ideal for what environment? I wouldn't want one for close quarters indoors self defense. If they are at range outside, sure, why not. But what are the odds that you will be defending yourself at long range?
I have to wonder where people get these ideas.

I don't think so. Our culture changes with each generation....women's rights, civil rights. And this generation is focused on gun control.

Care to provide the stats to back up your assertion?

Take a look at what is happening in L.A . Tons of celebrities living in $1 million plus homes have had their homes broken into .

There have been home invasions with the home owners tied up etc .

Crime doesn’t only happen in “bad” neighborhoods.

Many millenials are fairly libertarian in the beliefs. I doubt most are against gun ownership.

A revolver for home defend would suffice.
