Ask them what they think about the children.

Being older, some of us find it somewhat similar to what was happening with high school and college students back when we went, protesting the Vietnam war. The main difference so far is that these kids are younger, and have been peaceful about it, while we had some violent incidents, including some deaths. I remember one day in college when we had the National Guard on the roofs with rifles while we walked between buildings to classes. I also remember that despite the protests, it was 10 years after the protests started before the government finally pulled out our troops. Protests don’t have never seemed to make much difference to the elected officials.

Family and friends say that the students are sitting ducks. Might as well post a sign out front that says “kill here”. Right next to the “gun free zone sign”.

Agree.

They are not donors.

Until after the shooting and then only organ donors.

Some of the elected officials are getting paid millions of $$ by the NRA. These kids are seeing right through that kind of thing, and at an earlier age than I ever did.

Everyone I know is excited by what these kids are doing.

The main difference, I think, is that the Vietnam War protestors were trying to stop a specific government policy which was disrupting the lives of an entire generation of young people, forcing millions of them to go to the other side of the world to kill and be killed. The March for our Lives movement is, by comparison, frivolous hype.

I had a good conversation with my 18 year old son about it tonight. It might surprise some of the conservatives on this board that he was able t explain why he was with the protests and walkouts and wished he could have got down to one over the weekend. The kids know why they're protesting. It says more about the folks shaming them then it does the kids.

Guns kill 1300 children per year in the US. This isn't "frivolous hype."

Many more are killed from using a cellphone and driving. What are we doing about that?
