Very true. Reagan Democrats and the rust belt really won trump the election

I wouldn't use Italy as any measure of political trends. For crying out loud they've had 62+ governments since WWII.

The sooner we get rid of the republican party and get a real right wing party to take its place, the sooner we get a real right wing alternative in America and not some republican pansies and fake "conservatives"

Multiculturalism, demographic change and displacement and immigration are the issues that will win elections. The idiot republicans just dont realize it.

Problem is, Euro Right Wing parties believe in Universal Health Insurance, 4-5+ weeks vacation (++) and much more that the US Righties have sworn against.

Although, listening to the radio today, I was amazed at all the liberal positions (pot, etc.) that the GOP are trying to steal.

We know that there are no fiscal conservatives left anywhere.
So "right" seems to now mean "neo-con" again (Bolton), which means get ready for more war, more big government, more debt and more authoritarianism.

I don't see any of those as good things for the USA.

US republicans maybe, not necessarily right wingers. Of course alot of the generous european welfare state was possible when it was a pretty racially homogeneous continent and you have oil wealth like norway. There are no US equivalents to a place like Copenhagen with its mass transit, huge safety net , etc outside of maybe small college towns, no American cities

When a welfare state attracts immigrants and refugees who use it to have large families and you have massive demographic change and crime , its not as desirable and right wing parties appear

Alot of the fiscal problems that attracts fringe parties are through economic problems and immigration , Italy has massive debt and a terrible refugee problem. Europe is not the progressive paradise guys like sanders tries to make it out as

They're definitely not more conservative. Race is largely irrelevant, since what matters is the entire cohort, not a subset of it.

If anything, they're very similar to their slightly older peers. I know many generation Z youth.

If you really think they're more conservative, you only need to look at this past weekend's events to see how wrong you are.

If you're betting on a conservative revolution, I predict a lot of disappointment in your future.

Also, friendly advice: I wouldn't use 2016 as evidence of things to come.

Why should we, Republicans really are no different than Democrats. It has nothing to do with Democrats , that party is a train wreck with no leaders and no vision, just a bunch of identity groups who manipulate each other

Europe is more interesting politically because almost all of them are multiparty systems where new parties have a chance. All we get are a choice between a mediocre Republican party and a mediocre Democrat party

2018, We are not voting for Trump this time around. My reps will remain red. I'm so glad Lloyd Doggett is no longer my rep. 2010 and a line change has me and Roger Williams as best buds.

Italy has been there before with Mussolini. You would think they learned their lesson, but I guess not. No, scandinavia is not seeing it. Finland had a populist party, but they have lost pretty much all their influence and seats in the parliament.
