Data:

"According to the Treasury, from Jan 1, 2018 through March 28, 2018 (Q1), federal debt rose by an astounding $621 billion dollars (a 13.1% increase on an annualized basis). The chart below shows the quarterly change in federal debt versus the quarterly change in real GDP since 2000. Q1 2018 was the second largest quarterly growth in federal debt, only surpassed by the massive free spending of Q4, 2008"

2008 was a massive recession, while GOP and Trump are reckless during a growth stage.

Zerohedge slamming the Trump economy? I must be hallucinating.

I'm sure 13% GDP growth is right around the corner. The current 2.5% is just a holdover from the Obama economy.

The Trumpistanis said that growth would take care of this, prove wrong all those liberal think tanks and their flawed projections, because "cutting regulations" would cause the economy to boom.

They wouldn't lie to us, would they?

Tariffs wiped out any gains elsewhere.

The short game mentality of liberals is on full display here.

Everyone else plays the long game and understand the lag between the new tax laws and actual collection of those taxes.
Liberals may understand that, too, but it is to their advantage to pretend to not know it. The government that was expanded so greatly by liberals is still a beast that must be fed. Choking off the beast may take a while.
Maybe even longer than 10 weeks!

Dems demanded their pork as the trade off for the military.

Schumer made out and was delighted.

I wonder why there were no restrictions on the use of concrete for his tunnel.

Have you seen the budget Republicans passed?
If Democrats are tax-and-spend, then Republicans are borrow-and-spend (increase taxes later to pay off the borrowed money and blame it on the Democrats).
