Glad to see this strong response to the UK nerve gas attack. I'm sure the UK and our other European allies are as well.

Trump administration expels 60 Russian officers, shuts Seattle consulate in response to attack on former spy in Britain

The Trump administration on Monday ordered the expulsion of 60 Russian intelligence and diplomatic officers in New York and Washington and the closure of the Russian Consulate in Seattle, joining European allies in retaliation for the poisoning of a former Russian spy in Britain.

I must have missed over the weekend Trump's condemnation of this state sanctioned assassination attempt by his Moscow buddy, what did he say to let Putin know he should cut it out?

Any action taken against the Russians is always announced in the name of the White House by Sarah Huckabee Sanders. Nothing from the President’s mouth. Ever.

Probably just "knock it off" like Obama did.

The President didn't say (or tweet) anything about this. It was announced by the White House.

Over the weekend, these other countries also announced they're joining the UK in this: Germany, France, Italy, the Netherlands, Denmark, the Czech Republic, Finland, Romania, Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, Poland, Ukraine and Canada. Two more EU countries (not sure which ones) are set to announce today as well.

I guess this is the 'Monday Surprise' that's supposed to divert attention away from the 60 Minutes interview?

Is this how other administrations have handled sanctions in the past? What I mean is - has this been standard operating procedure when sanctions are announced against any other country (not just Russia)?

If it's standard operating procedure, that would be good to know. (And the day is still young. Perhaps the President will release a statement of his own later in the day).

In any case, I'm glad that we are doing this and standing with the U.K. and other other allies.

that's so weird given that President Twitter has no problems discussing his tough-guy stance on North Korea.
