Great link, thanks for sharing. I'm guessing that the negative replies are from people that can't deal with a president with "that skin color". They probably love our current toddler-in-chief.

In a Gallup poll released Wednesday, Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton were named the Most Admired Man and Woman for 2017.
This is the tenth consecutive year Obama has taken the man’s title, winning for the first time in 2008 and then every year of his presidency. This is his first win as a former president. Clinton has taken the woman’s title for 16 consecutive years and held the title a total of 22 times—more than any other winner of the Gallup poll. Eleanor Roosevelt is the closest runner-up with 12 total wins.
Obama also managed to beat current president Donald Trump, who received 14% of the vote. Trump is one of few incumbent presidents not to take the title and the only elected president to lose in his first year.
Obama’s election quickly elevated America’s image abroad, especially in Europe, where George W. Bush was deeply unpopular following the U.S. invasion of Iraq. In 2009, shortly after Obama took office, residents in many countries expressed a sharp increase in confidence in the ability of the U.S. president to do the right thing in international affairs. While Obama remained largely popular internationally throughout his tenure, there were exceptions, including in Russia and key Muslim nations. And Americans themselves became more wary of international engagement.
And we keep laughing at the mess that is Trump!

The irony is that under the Obama administration gun sales spiked and now under Trump they're down something like 25-40%. Remington has now filed for bankruptcy.

Considering that you've attempted to discredit the conscientious contribution of a most precious letter to a very deserving group of heroic young Americans, I consider this post as absolute lurid and utter refuse!
The problem is that Trump has been very busy for the most part. He’s running several golf-courses, having to fire several more people from his office staff, talking with one attorney about the Russian issues that have been uncovered, working with a number of other attorneys dealing with a all the other women who have had issues with his sexual behavior in the past, and yet more attorneys on the two women who have begun telling their stories about Donald’s sexual intercourse while he was married to Melania, he has been trying to get the details worked out on a military parade in D.C. plus flying back and forth to Mar-a-largo checking on meeting with foreign businessmen who have come to see him regarding hotels in their country. He simply has his hands full and can’t “tweet” a nice heartfelt and worthy letter to some school kids.
Barack Obama and his wife Michelle felt it would be the “right” thing to do for the school kids of Parkland Fl. to acknowledge and encourage them. The Obamas seem to have personalities and the ability to show a little class, moral ethical behavior; something Donald might learn and try to imitate sometime.
Most people, like myself (and the Obamas), recognize that these Parkland survivors are just that: survivors of a hellish massacre. They all huddled in abject fear, hearing the gunshots take down their classmates.
The young lady whom vomited during her speech? Had been shot in the legs. I joined in her joy when she announced "I just threw up on worldwide television!", for she realized that there was a lot worse that could have happened to her rather than vomiting on television.
These young people are 'old enough' to recall the Pulse nightclub massacre, the Texas church killings, and the Las Vegas massacre (all in the past year). They recognize, as many do, the useless and pathetic 'thoughts and prayers' crap that politicians cough up each time such horrors are committed. I was proud of them for marching, for demanding that their government at least try something to remedy the situation.
I well recall the Vietnam protests. One must remember, when these protests began the American public was mainly against the protestors. We did not have such protests in Fort Worth, but I joined in spirit, since I did not want to be drafted upon turning 18 and sent to the rice fields and forests of Vietnam. As time went on, many Americans realized that the protests were, in fact, fully justified. That our government had been sending young American men to die in a war that the government knew full well could not be won (See: The Pentagon Papers).
In many ways, Vietnam was easy: our troops were brought back home, the draft ended. South Vietnam fell to the North in 1975, and our world continued. We now have active trade with Vietnam.
What these young people are fighting for is much tougher: asking that guns that are designed to kill many people quickly be banned. It will not stop all such killings, of course. I recall that Whitman, when he climbed that tower at the University of Texas, had a bolt-action rifle that he used to deadly effect.
Yet, in future (for even weapons have a shelf life), such weapons will be less common, and perhaps some individual will have to resort to a handgun or such; a weapon that may give 'a good man with a gun' a better chance to bring the person down, before too many lives are lost.
Yet some of the march attendees who were interviewed couldn't begin to define what an assault weapon is.
