The American right controls all three branches of the federal government and a staggering majority of state governments, yet they are the ones always talking Civil War. Civil wars are usually fight for freedom, independence or power. Why would the group that holds all the power want a civil war? Do they literally just want to kill their political opponents?
It's probably about 5% of the hard core white/male/gun worshipping/rural/exburban/hard right nut cases who routinely talk about this stuff on this and other forums. They do things like post pictures of children holding guns with captions "come and try to take my guns", pathetic loser things like that. You know who they are on city-data. it gives the impression they are far more prevalent then they are, because they are so vocal and obsessed with their guns and racial animosity and reactionary mindset.
Here's the thing about that. Their fantasies of fighting a tyrannical govt whenever they decide to "come for their guns" will come to an abrupt end once they realize they will have to shoot and kill the same local LEOs that they hold so dear and cheer for. Because local LEOs are the ones who will be coming to confiscate. Not "the left". Not some boogie/phantom army men. Think they're mentally prepared for that? Absolutely not.

However, they don't have a filibuster proof majority. A non filibuster proof majority is of limited benefit, especially within a caucus that is less apt to fall in line behind leadership when leadership 'tells them to jump'.

A civil war is having guns to fight the gummint- that is what the OP is talking about. Tons of comments from "they're coming to take our guns" NRA paranoia crowd.
