John Goodman slipped smoothly back into Dan. The rest of the cast may need a while. Their performances were choppy, as if someone was feeding them lines through an earpiece.
Loved the business with the medications at the beginning. Funny and rang true.
There is no doubt that this is a major win for the deplorables. The entertainment industry will have to sit up and take notice that the audience they thought they were gaining with "inclusion" is turning off at least as many, if not more, viewers.

I am not sure I agree.
Tim Allen's Outdoor Man was VERY popular and had good ratings, yet the network took it off the air.
I loved all but the final season of the original series, and assumed I would hate the reboot (as I tend to hate all reboots). But I loved it. I am center left; I hate Roseanne‘s personal politics; I despise the current season of the reality TV show playing out in Washington. But I thought the first episode. The writers brilliantly poked fun at both politely extremes.

I think this show is actually the poster child for inclusion- one of the only lower-middler or working class families on TV, gender fluid recurring character, mixed race couple, multi-generational household, married couples and single parents, surrogate pregnancy... They basically checked boxes right, left, center, high and low. The original series also features lesbians, gays, black friends and the like so it was pretty inclusive in that form as well.
One thing I will mention is that other than the moment when half the cast appeared to be gay characters (Sandra Bernhard/Morgan Fairchild/Fred Willard/the old boss/the mom/hinting at the son) the show has always included diversity in realistic manners- co workers, friends form similar financial settings, classmates. It was a contrast to Cosby where they had a lot of ethnicities and even art but they were always being brought in at the higher ends of income, professional and critical scales. I remember that being a big contrast then- the two most successful shows being helmed by a black man and a white woman. Showing the half of the food chain that usually wasn't associated with either in the media- high income blacks and low income whites.
I'm not here to be classy. I'm here to argue with the enemies of my country.
Wow, because people voted differently then you did, they are considered enemies of your country ? If so , I hope you are anti gun... you seem a bit unhinged.

Ha! I wonder if the left is so anti 2nd amendment because they know they can't be trusted around guns.
I found the political jokes predictable, stereotypical and not that creative or 'hilarious'.
Overall, I didn't find the two shows that hilarious. Few funny lines and set pieces, but overall it seemed an inside joke that checked all the RW and LW boxes.
One of my favorite episodes of the earlier series was “Wait Till Your Father Gets Home” that found humor and insight in the funeral of Roseanne and Jackie's father.
Didn't see either that humor or insight in these two episodes.
But it's early. Give the writers and actors time to hit their stride.
