Where do people come up with these strange beliefs?

Republicans want consumers to pay higher prices and max out their credit cards even more. They don't want them to have lots of purchasing power and don't want US companies to export goods, either.

Trump's base. They'd burn down their house if Trump told them it would make the liberals mad.

Pork and soybeans? Iowa is in for some bad times.

We want people to live within their means.

Also, Democrats scream about global warming but are ok with teakwood desks being manufactured in China by 12 year olds and being shipped across the Pacific with #6 diesel powered ships.

By forcing consumers to pay higher prices due to tariffs, republicans are accomplishing the exact opposite of that.

How will a “tit for tat” trade war reduce the trade deficit with China if exports and imports decrease by about the same amount?

Learn to live with less. Read a book instead of playing with the latest Chinese made tablet.

Anything could cost more due to the tariffs. Medical care could increase, car repair could increase and the cost of food and utilities could increase, even when the food doesn't come from China.

This is because somewhere along that supply chain, some other companies had to pay more due to the tariffs and they are passing this along via price increases. x-ray eqpt increases which means doctors or hospitals will pass along this price increase to patients. Conveyor belts and processing eqpt and computers and HVAC equipment could increase in price due to tariffs which means those companies pass along the price increase. Utility companies could be paying more for various eqpt and services and they will pass this along to the consumer via price increases.

How many USA pork producers have been bought by the Chinese? It will only matter in jobs.

Many of our farms have been bought by foreigners.
