On the global scale, American democrats are a center-right party. There are very few leftists in American politics or media. I’ve seen libertarians and even arch conservatives described as leftists, on this site. I have to wonder what makes some of you decry centrists and even conservatives as leftists. Do you guys not know what leftist means? Are you simply making using the label in attempt to discredit anyone who disagrees with you?

I'll assume you just came from one of the Trump threads... in that case the moniker should simple be "TADSS" (Trump Acute Derangement Syndrome Sufferers).
Rush Limbaugh is the genesis. Everything bad =liberal, has come to include the term leftists. Listen to a talk radio program and barely sentence goes by that Democrat/liberal/leftist isn't used in a derogatory manner. People just follow the path their media heroes laid out. After 30 years of this tripe, not surprising that loyal listeners can't start a thread or type a sentence that doesn't do the same exact thing. And they call other people sheep.
Don't care about the global, only the national. Liberal is a misnomer. Classic liberalism more closely resembles libertarianism than our modern left, so leftist is more accurate. The modern left is not about liberty, it is about equality. Not that any of our labels are truly accurate. Globalism vs nationalism, centralized vs decentralized and authoritarian vs libertine are not really addressed with our contemporary labels, for instance.
