After his statement, would you suggest I do if I run into him on the street? According to Florida's laws, if I do, I would have the right to shoot first if I felt threatened.

You could try, and you may make your case. But you cannot claim he assaulted you. Your first action appears to be pisting on a forum, not attempting escape. The reasonableness of the statement is unclear, and the perceived threat was non-specific, and contextually vague, if not completely facetious.
