Chicago has attracted thousands of high paying jobs and several headquarters relocation to that wonderful city. Kansas and Oklahoma would sell their souls to be as "bad" as Chicago.

Baltimore is shedding the old blue collar factory jobs and creating high-paying white collar jobs. Again, so many red city would kill to be in Baltimore's position.

Detroit is turning things around thanks to liberals' persistence. The downtown metro is now very hip and expensive. It's actually quite telling (and sad) that Detroit, the worse of the liberal cities, is still miles better than your typical red city.

Many, many moved to CA from red states. Because they'd rather be homeless in paradise than be housed in third world.

The idea is to attract businesses, not the homeless.

You realize that there can be jobs and tons of murder in a city right ?

You like to rag on red states . How about Texas. All the big growing cities in Texas are doing a lot better than your examples of Chicago , Baltimore and Detroit .

Yeah Baltimore sounds swell ...

Baltimore has now had 343 homicides in 2017, sets record for killings per capita - Baltimore Sun

Detroit is in bad shape. Take off your lefty colored glasses.

Overall, citywide data suggest Detroit is continuing to experience decline that makes it worse off than it was in 2000 or even 2010 in the depths of the national recession. Population, employment and incomes continue to decrease, while vacancies and poverty have increased.

Real progress has occurred in recent years in the Downtown/Midtown core

Downtown/Midtown covers only 5 percent of Detroit’s 140 square miles, and its population of 26,000 is a tiny fraction of the 3.6 million residents of the metro area, 80 percent of whom live in the suburbs.

The pace at which revitalization is spreading to adjacent areas is far too slow to eliminate divisions between downtown and neighborhood, city and suburb (read: black and white), or rich and poor in the city.

Although home values in Midtown have increased by 5 percent since 2008, this has not been sufficient to offset continued weakness in other neighborhood housing markets.

Lying liberals

“Detroit has turned around “

I’m guessing they’ll spin it that it’s great job creation for homicide detectives and coroners .

Between Good Friday and the end of Easter Sunday, the city had six homicides and 15 shooting victims at 11 crime scenes, according to police.

Deputy Police Chief David LeValley said Monday that one arrest has been made so far, involving the fatal shooting of a man whose body was found Sunday morning at 2:30 a.m. The body was discovered in the 6000 block of Holcomb.

What kind of a dumb question is that? Do you also ask why is it always the main roads that have traffic jam??? Democrats run cities with urban population, so of course the crime rate is higher - there are plenty of money, people, and density. Of course the crime rate would be low in a town with 100 people and everyone has no money. Do I really have to explain it to you?

A recent study shows that roughly 35% of the homeless were living in San Francisco for over ten years at the time they became homeless. That means the other 65% were either from outside of SF, not been living here for long, or both.

You don't seem to realize that the four major cities in Texas (Houston, San Antonio, Austin, and DFW) are ALL either very liberal or left-leaning. ALL four cities' counties voted for Hillary in the last election. Look it up.

The jobs are what the liberals can control. We create jobs, yes sir.

The murders are tied to the 2nd Amendment. We liberals have no control over that. For that, you have to talk to the right-wing gun nuts and the NRA.

You were putting down “red states”, so Texas isn’t a red state ?

You realize most legal gun owners are law abiding and not going out shooting people ?

Chicago/Illinois has strict gun control laws ... so why all the murders and shootings ?

It all starts at downtown metro and then it will spread to the outlaying area. It's not going to be overnight and the city will not be what it used to be, but it is getting better. These are things you won't know unless you've been there.

Now, speaking of Detroit, it's what happens when you abandon technological innovation in favor of stale industrialization. Which is exactly what this administration is doing. It is trying to create more Detroits.
