Not saying the Trump approach is the correct one but certainly what Obama did was a failure.

what you talking about?

It is NOT 24 hours, Trump's people have been talking with Kims for months. I am thinking you don't get how these things work do you. Trump , OBAMA, BUSH , CLINTON none of them would ever have much to do with making a deal, none of them are experts on the topic.

Instead the "deep state" does the heavy lifting. the two admins work out a deal the leaders review, rehash ... and when a deal is worked out they sign it. They only meet up if the deal is solid and of a historic nature.

Trump just did a photo op with no deal, and no hope of a deal. It is just more fake bs from trump like we have seen since the day he came down the escalator.

To be clear, it is NOT 24 hours, it is months, not days, and Trump had no deal but needed something to shift the news cycle.

what would you have done Jack, the greatest minds on the planet were unable to find a way to take out NK's leadership without losing hundreds of thousands of lives even before the first nuke was made ...

so what was your great plan, and you can even use 20/20 hindsight.

(jack has no plan , he never heard of a plan and Jack wont even be able to make up something that even vaguely sounds like a plan. Because NK had and has enough conventional weapons pointed at Seoul to kill vast numbers of poeple within the opening hours.

Trump is taking a practical common sense approach to world problems. He's not a politician and that's precisely why he was elected.

First the left freaks out he is going to get us into a war or nuclear exchange.

Presently the left is freaking out because he is using diplomacy and trying unconventional but common sense approaches to peace.

If it doesn't work no harm, at least we tried and things either go back to the status quo or it leads to inevietable conflict. But at least I will be satisfied that we gave an honest effort to avoid war.

At least have the decency to be transparent and admit that you all would hate ANYTHING that Trump does or doesn't do.
Oh really? This was the reaction from the right when Obama put forth the idea of unconventional but common sense approaches to peace.

it's the beginning....it's the start, far more than your savior obama did....far more than bush, clinton and bush......
Other presidents chose not to take this approach for good reason, we will see if the ball keeps rolling.
Its a positive step maybe but I will check back next year, or the year after.....

It looks like those that were saying this was already a done deal may have been right.

President Obama turned away Denis Rodman when he suggested dialog between the US and NK, as he said on CNN...

Both Dems and Repubs tend to be complete idiots on this issue. There's this nonsensical idea that if we completely ignore X country and it's leaders and refuse any and all dialogue -- both parties have it in their heads that doing so will actually solve something. I do not know of any occasion where this has produced positive results.

We stopped being mortal enemies with the People's Republic of China when we stopped pretending they didn't exist and opened dialogue with them. While it's a tempestuous relationship, our relationship with "Red China" has been mostly positive ever since.
