This goes back to 9/11 when Sikh Americans were held unlawfully in custody on suspicion of being here illegally - they weren't. The Bush administration set the precedent of US citizens being detained unlawfully.

3600 U.S. citizens were detained by ICE between 2009 and 2011.

IMO, the only reason conservatives don't care about this stuff is because they are very unlikely to be targeted by law enforcement for how they look or the way their name sounds.

I DO think illegal immigrants should be deported, but the status-quo is clearly broken. Sanctuary cities don't stop ICE from deporting "illegal aliens," but they do provide a check against draconian law enforcement that - paradoxically - increases crime and lowers quality of life. Again, although you didn't take the time to read it, is empirically proven.

It's a shame so many "small government" conservatives are against sanctuary cities.
Drew, you must learn that locals work with FEDS all the time. In my state, on the east coast, we enjoy working together, that is law enforcement. There is no burden on locals to work with FEDS, we get each others backs, and you must realize this.

How are they prosperous when 34% of the nation's welfare recipients live in California, 1/5 of Californians are in poverty, and they have over a trillion dollars worth of debt?

Sounds like you haven't seen the homeless encampments living under the freeway or on a curb in LA or SF.
