trump tweet from this morning:

"Attorney Client privilege is now a thing of the past, I have many (too many!) lawyers and they are probably wondering when their offices, and even homes, are going to be raided with everything, including their phones and computers, taken. All lawyers are deflated and concerned!"

bwahahahahaha!

the exact same attorney/client privilege laws exist in this situation as they have before. i assume that of the "too many!" lawyers he has one of the competent ones would have explained that to him.

Cohen is in arguably worse shape than Manafort.

People voted him into office. Not sure how the popular vote is relevant to this fact.

Dunno about other liberals, but this liberal first heard about this whole thing when Cohen, Trump's personal attorney, said that Trump had had an affair/one-night stand with a porn entrepreneur who had signed a settlement that he (Cohen) had negotiated between Trump and said entrepreneur that the entrepreneur was now trying to get out of. Now why wouldn't I believe Cohen, Trump's personal attorney? The guy who said he negotiated the agreement? Has Trump fired or otherwise dissociated himself from Cohen?

Of course Daniels is in it for the money. She has made no secret of that. She has offered to return the $130,000 she accepted to keep quiet because she thinks she can make more money by being able to exploit her story in public herself.

"But mainly, Daniels can’t be **** shamed because she is “that kind of girl,” and she’s not ashamed of it.

Daniels has built her career on the salacious materials that have been used to destroy other women. She’s immune to lewd character attacks, which is precisely what makes her a more terrifying threat than a Mueller probe or any other sex scandal. Daniels turns the “****” narrative on its head. It can’t be used to discredit her; in the opposite, the nation is handing her the mic, keenly listening to what she has to say." News | InStyle.com

She and Trump are cut from the same cloth - he publicized himself by appearing on Howard Stern numerous times over the years to talk about his sex life. You can find those interviews yourself.

I've loathed Trump for years, in part because of the disgusting things he's said about sex in general and specific women in particular on venues like Howard Stern. You're a little late to the disgust party. And more than a little hypocritical. Decent married men and fathers don't sort of absentmindedly bang women who have made a small fortune producing and distributing porn films. For you to be disgusted with her but not disgusted with him is, well, disgusting.
Very well said.

I think some men are apt to view Stormy Daniels as an opportunist and fail to see that Trump was the original opportunist. Some men tend to celebrate other men who take advantage of women (locker room talk). Instead of condemning Trump for treating his vows of marriage seriously, they idolize him for having the guts to and money to buy any nearly any woman he wants.

More specifically, these men idolize people like Trump and this Broidy guy who just resigned for going after women who are the very same type of women they wish they could have. The very same women they see in porn films and Playboy.

Cohen, and the concept of having a bag man who runs around and cleans the soiled sheets and disposes of the fouled mattresses, only makes Trump more of a hero. Since he doesn't even bother to stoop so low as to pay women off personally. He has Cohen to do it for him.

Didn't the British elite class at one time employ a "man servant" or "gentleman's gentleman" who carried the money so the real gentleman would never touch money directly?

The surprising thing to me is so many women failed to recognize this and actually votes for this guy and gave his party the majority in Congress so he could be immune from any check and balance.

I think the most important take away from that article now 1.5 years old, is that the Trump team was fully aware what they were doing was illegal. Yet they continued full steam ahead and entangled others into their web of lies. When innocent real estate brokers spoke out they were told nobody would find out about their lies.

This is the background and experience this family brought into the political climate. They were well versed in doing illegal activity and had gotten away with it by making procedural moves.

From observing Michael Avenatti, I would estimate in order of importance--
1---because he hopes it will make Michael Cohen sweat
2--because it will increase her media profile and thusly, Avenatti's
3--because Avenatti knows he can control "his" client and the judge might have a question for Daniels
She certainly had some for Cohen Friday and his attorneys were at a loss to answer
4--because likely reporters will note Daniels's calm demeanor and poise--which will portend her steely determination--and catch Trump's attention...

I didn't read that article this time--had read it several months ago
My impression was that in NYC they carry a lot of clout and the DA was sufficiently cowed not to press what likely would have been a messy but winnable case
the DA folded--not that the Trumps' had the law or even excellent attorneys on their side...

If that is incorrect--tell me and I will reread it...
My impression of what they have done when challenged by those they defrauded (from reading about other legal issues people try to press) is pay off someone in the local government (not unheard of in countries like the Phillipines, Azerbijhan, or even the US) and it goes away...
