Well said. This goes well beyond the scope of the POTUS or Michael Cohen. These are OUR civil liberties being tossed around like rag dolls. There is so much short-sightedness by people because they hate Trump they cannot see straight. They just see hate and they don't care how Trump a duly, legally elected POTUS is removed from office they just want him gone. It won't stop here either. If these people don't get their way it will continue to escalate. It needs to stop now. Muller and the FBI need to lay their case out for the American public.
So there is just no possible way there was any wrong doing here by Cohen. All of this is being orchestrated by the "deep state"??
You assume Trump is guilty. Trump is entitled to the same presumption of innocence as anyone else. When you take into account that Muller announced Trump isn't the focus of a criminal investigation last week and now this happens how is Trump suppose to react??
You obviously don't watch much court tv or Law and Order
Anyone can go from "subject" of an investigation to target in the blink of an eye...
Or IOU...
To everyone who is gloating over this. Today Trump, Cohen, etc., tomorrow or next week it will be You, your kid, your father, your sister. When is this underhanded crap going to stop?
Wait, so the federal investigation will involve all our families? My god, how big does the conspiracy go!?
Yeah, right. Nice try, no cigar. This is simply American justice at it's finest.
What I find strange is that Trumpees really do not care a lick if there actually was some criminal activity going on, they prefer to put those blinders on and blame everyone else but Trump and his team. Wonder who they learned to do that from ?
In the meantime, step by step, by step.......Mueller keeps getting a little closer. BOOOOOOOOOOOO !!!
No blinders here buddy boy. What I see is a liberal anti-Trump effort cheered on by the likes of people like you and ElliottCA to subvert a sitting POTUS that has not been proven guilty in anything simply because you don't like him. It's nonsense. The fact that people are ok with how this investigation continues to trample civil liberties is astounding to me.
It's not. The warrant was obtained by the US Attorney for the Southern District of New York from a magistrate in SDNY. The US Attorney for New York was appointed by Trump, who took the unusual step of personally interviewing him.

Federal prosecutors in New York are handling it. Here's what we can infer happened: information possessed by Mueller's team suggested non-Russia-related crimes. Mueller's team consulted Rosenstein, who referred the matter to SDNY's US attorney & FBI field office for further prosecutorial action. The US Attorney for NY approved the warrant application. A magistrate approved the warrant application, and then the FBI executed the search warrant.

This is a dumb comment.

Warrants are not public knowledge for a number of good reasons. Would you want the world to know that the FBI obtained a warrant to search your house, even if the FBI never decided there was a crime to prosecute you for? Information will become public as we get to trials and (potentially) some memo or recommendation from Mueller to Rosenstein. It would be inappropriate for the investigation to make information public prematurely.

There's a fair chance that this gets seismic. It depends on how people act & react. Trump could, potentially, leave Cohen out to dry. Cohen gets convicted of a number of federal crimes, and life basically moves on (this is only possible if Trump is not implicated in the crimes the FBI pursues against Cohen). If Trump responds by, for example, pardoning Cohen, or firing Sessions, Rosenstein, and Mueller, then we are in seismic-land. The public and Congress would either respond, or we would not have the rule of law.

Probable cause--there is going to be sensitivity with a licensed attorney, and the nature of the guy--the President's personal lawyer--is surely going to cause a magistrate to make sure the eyes are dotted and the tees crossed.

There are existing procedures to protect privilege when a lawyer's offices are searched. There may be in camera review by the magistrate, there may be a special master appointed for privilege review, or there may be a DOJ dirty team appointed to review for privilege that is required to respect a wall of separation that protects the clean, investigative team. Note also that whatever entity performs a privilege review will also examine records for the crime/fraud exception to privilege.

How can it be a liberal effort when almost everyone involved is a Republican? You really need to take a step back and think what you're saying because it literally makes no rational sense.

LOL, what "civil liberties" have been trampled, name them?

When I become a billionaire with the resources he has.. I'll welcome all those problems then.... You are insane lol
Foreign subversives and unAmericans. They have no right to live here. This nation isn't for them. They can leave or die.
The FBI is not an enemy of America, FFS.
