lol If it takes you that long to react, I doubt you would be able to draw your gun and pull the trigger too.

That's the point. As someone else mentioned, you know little to nothing about fighting with a blade.

From the sound of the posts, I’d lean waaaay more towards “nothing” as opposed to “little”

More people are murdered with bats and other blunt objects than with rifles of all type, to say nothing about what the left likes to call assault rifles. Given that-what background checks are the teachers getting before being armed with these deadly weapons? Do they have training and a CW permit? More importantly, how will they be locked up and secured when not being used to defend students? Is there a budget for security systems in each room?

Exactly-to say nothing about someone actually using a bat to confront someone with a deadly weapon. I wonder what kind of insurance they were able to purchase.

Did they get a better deal on the "small" baseball bat vs the regular size ones?
Or was it based on some type of algorhythim of height/weight of employees?

And as a liability factor--when an employer provides a method of "defense" to employees is that employer also incurring massive liability if that method is used and the employee is killed?

I mean most convenience stores have strict policies about not engaging anyone trying to rob the store-
They fire the employee who might try to thwart or physically apprehend any robber--armed or not..

Is there any documentation from the district's attorney re this policy???

This is laughable and seems to be a waste of money. Unless the teachers can use the bats on the bullies and thugs that attack teachers and other students, then I guess its a win.

Bring a tiny bat to a knife fight.... Wait that ain't how it goes.
Bring a tiny bat to a gun fight.... Still don't sound right

I know. Foolish sounds right.

A teacher hears commotion in a hallway, grabs their bat and goes to investigate, is confronted with a crazy person pointing a gun at them. So, it's bat vs gun. Do we really have to guess who wins that confrontation?

Sounds like the school district, decided that announcing they "did something" will make the problem go away.

Heck, where I work they put "no guns allowed" stickers on the doors....which are like totally magical and protect everyone.

LMAO.

Don't tell that to the kids on the softball & baseball teams. Schools don't supply the bats here. They go to school with the kids daily.
