I think the U.S. should get out of the Nation Building business, and let these Hell Holes sink, or swim on their own. Maybe Britain, or Russia can invade them AGAIN.

A near stone age culture, armed with bolt action Enfields, and AK-47's making the world's only Superpower look weak, and impotent.

You actually seem to think that Bubba with his collection of ARs compares to a Muj.

Makes you wonder which groups in the US would hold their own in an armed insurrection type of situation. People with strong family bonds who can handle physical adversity, do manual labor, who already grow food and who are conditioned to make do with little and stretch their resources. Hmmm...

On the verge of? Was lost to begin with.

No. The US doesn't have the right to split up other countries. That's their decision.

If you think the United States is getting its ass kicked in Afghanistan now, wait til you try partitioning it. You won’t be able to get their foot OUTTA your ass.

The United States doesn’t have the right, the power OR the moxie to partition a sovereign nation. Perish the thought. You’re wasting your time.

Bomb the Taliban for what? The Taliban never once attacked the United States.

We officially got into Afghanistan in order to eliminate the safe haven that the Taliban provided to al-Qaeda, but another large part of our mission in Afghanistan was to modernize the country--specifically by bringing modern technology, schools, and women's rights there. Obviously our success in regards to this has been only partial, though--with the results primarily visible in Afghan cities.

Anyway, my question is this--if the U.S. will be on the verge of losing the war in Afghanistan (something which I don't think is true yet considering that the war there currently appears to be a stalemate), should the U.S. aim to work with pro-U.S. Afghan politicians and military officials to partition the country?

Here's an ethnic map of Afghanistan:

The Taliban appears to have the strongest support among Afghan Pashtuns (who primarily--albeit not exclusively--live in southern Afghanistan).

Thus, do you think that a losing U.S. should try to create a separate state (or more than one separate state) in northern Afghanistan in order to prevent the Taliban from seizing all of Afghanistan and in order to allow the U.S. and U.S. influence to continue to have a presence in a large part of Afghanistan?

Any thoughts on this?
When did Afghanistan become a state? Bring the troops home and protect our borders like the Constitution says.
