Massachusetts has the 2nd lowest overall firearm death rate in the country.

EDIT: Apparently we are now the lowest in the country based on more current data. I got my figure from 2014 data.

This slain officer had a weapon.

So did the 12 officers who were shot in Dalles where 5 officers died. In that instance many in the crowds were open carrying. Fortunately, they chose to run for their lives with everyone else instead of shooting at a moving target in a large crowd.
