Libertarians are personal freedom fundamentalists.
Some libertarians even complain about needing a drivers license.

Libertarians are personal freedom fundamentalists.
True libertarians even complain about needing a drivers license and a Social Security number.

This is like when the religious call atheism a religion.

I am weary of ideologues of any kind (left, right, etc.). Ideologues always think they have the answer for everything...

Wow, a whole thread devoted to denouncing libertarianism.

I guess since the board is up to 6-7 anarchists the statists are feeling threatened.

Not sure why though. If we get to be too much of a "problem" they'll just kill us like they do to everyone else.

Actually I have no answers for you or even myself.

That's why I don't want you running my life and you sure as hell don't want me to run your life.

Exactly, the Libertarians are often too hardcore and don't want small government but rather no government.

True, but I'll note that libertarianism isn't meant to be an answer to everything. It's the idea that you should respect individual rights simply because of people's humanity.

I also happen to believe everyone is better off that way, but that's not the primary reason for it...similar to arguing against something like Kim Jong Un's control of North Korea.

You wouldn't say "well, the stuff he does could be improved upon, and he's making the country poorer, so it's not very practical", as if it would be totally fine to control the population the way he does, if only it led to some result that you like. No, you'd be against it because those are human beings, and Kim Jong Un has no right to do what he's doing to them.

If you want a totally extreme example, it's probably better practically for society to just kill off the people who take more than they contribute. I think most people realize that it doesn't matter if that benefits society as a whole, because you're violating those people's inherent rights. That's what libertarianism is all about.

There is a difference between (L)ibertarians and (l)ibertarians.

There are also differences between antifederalists, minarchists, agorists, voluntaryists, and anarcho-capitalists.

Anacps like No Recess and I typically start out as antifeds, then make our way down the line. It usually takes 12-18 months for the full awakening.
