When you advocating people, who don’t pay their own fair share, to rake in the benefits paid by robbing other people’s labor at gunpoint, that’s slavery.

It's not enough to pay the taxes that are required by law, you also have to like doing it.

If I disagree with the U.S. government's murderous, destructive foreign policy (which I obviously do), but am still forced--at gunpoint--to fund it, with the prospect of death if I resist, then yes, that is the very definition of slavery.

Until "the safety net" causes society to implode under its own hefty weight. I won't be here to suffer the consequences. You will.

Remember that it's supposed to be a "safety net," NOT a lifestyle choice.

Well, there's an additional explanation of why we're screwed. I'm sure you've seen my posts about the NAEP and PIAAC results. Americans are getting dumber with each successive generation, with the millennials being the worst so far, even the supposedly college educated.

Actually, it usually does. 70% chance they'll die poor.

Well, by percent, the pauper pays no income tax and the rich pay less than the middle class. As usual, those in the middle bear the brunt

I know plenty of people who grew up poor, sometimes in other countries, who are middle class or better as adults. So spare me

Nope.

Easy to see who pays what, here:

Chart: Income Share vs. Federal Income Tax Share, By Income Level

Everyone look in the mirror and admit to yourself if you're a net contributor, or a net taker. (Hint: The bottom 95% are net takers. They're NOT pulling their weight.)

And lest anyone thinks that's an anomaly and the REALLY high income earners pay far less than that, here's the actual IRS data on the percentage of the total income they earn vs. the percentage of the federal income tax revenue they pay.

Top 0.1%, minimum income: $2.22 million

Earn 10.19% of the total income

But pay 19.5% of the total federal income tax revenue

Very similar to the the differential between what the top 1% (minimum income: $481,000) earns and what they pay.

When the 2018 data is released, we'll see if the disproportion remains, or dwindled substantially, thereby creating a more fair taxation system.
